About Linda Morad

A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Linda Morad is the daughter of Attorney George and Florence Morad. She attended local public schools in the north end, Campbell Elementary and Normandin Junior High, and went on to graduate from New Bedford High School. Linda is an alumna of Providence College, where she earned a B.S. in hospital administration. She went on to work as a corporate banker, including a 23-year stint as Senior Vice President of Corporate Loan Operations and Documentation at BayBanks, N.A., Bank Boston, N.A., and Fleet National Bank. In this capacity, Linda was responsible for the bank's multi-billion dollar commercial loan portfolio and the team of more than 200 professionals who serviced the portfolio. Linda has also served as Executive Director of the North End Business Association in the City, working with local small business owners on the issues that affect them. In 2012, Linda joined St. Anne's Credit Union, where she is the Senior Business Development Specialist. In her position, she is responsible for servicing the needs of business clients in the Greater New Bedford area. Linda is out in the community on a daily basis, talking with small and mid-size business owners, understanding the operation of their business and determining how St. Anne's Credit Union can assist with their business and or personal banking needs.
In 2003, Linda was elected to serve as Ward 1 City Councillor. She was re-elected to three more terms, serving for eight years as the Councillor representing Ward 1. As a City Councillor, Linda served as Chair of several committees, including the Committee on Finance, the Committee on Audit, the Committee on Ordinance, the Committee on Labor and Industry and the Committee on Veteran and Elder Services, among others. Linda has also served on the school councils at Jireh Swift Elementary and Casimir Pulaski Elemantary, as well as on the advisory board at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. In 2011, Linda relinquished her City Council position to pursue her dream to become Mayor of New Bedford. Since leaving the Council she has truly missed her public service role, her day-to-day interaction with the residents of the City, and her ability to use her position as an elected official to help City residents with any issue or concern.
With her significant experience in corporate banking and financial services, coupled with her dedication to public service, Linda is well-prepared to serve as Councillor at Large, an important role that acts as the representative of all New Bedford residents in their city's government. Her work as a City Councillor has demonstrated Linda's ability and determination when it comes to important decisions for New Bedford, and she has listened to and worked on behalf of her constituents in the past to represent their interests on the City Council. Linda's fiscal competence and government experience make her a uniquely qualified candidate who is ready to once again serve the people of New Bedford as their voice in city government.
